.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 116 AM CDT Wed Aug 19 2026

The forecast pattern continues to be fairly stagnant, with small
shifts in the center position of the mid-level high. Hot and
generally dry conditions will persist through the forecast, though
there is a very low chance for some seabreeze convection.

We have noticed that the forecast high temperatures have been a bit
lower than we have been reaching so, with no significant change to
the pattern, have blended the observed max temperatures with the
most recent NBM (75/25) over land. Temperatures are expected to
range from 90 along the coast to around 105 inland, keeping us in a
moderate to high HeatRisk. Heat index values over the Coastal Bend
will reach 110-113, so have issued a Heat Advisory for this
afternoon. More telling, the WetBulb Glob Temperatures (based on
Texas UIL guidelines) are expected to be Moderate today, so it is
important to take at least 4 separate 5 minute breaks out of the
sun/heat. Drink plenty of water and/or electrolytes, dress in light,
loose clothing, and make sure you monitor yourself and others for
heat exhaustion.
