At 1100 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flooded roads from training thunderstorms that were producing torrential rain along Muncy Creek and areas adjacent to Route 220. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen over the past 90 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area through midnight. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Muncy Valley and Picture Rocks. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads.
