.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 128 PM MDT Mon Sep 1 2025

A beautiful afternoon and evening is in store across the CWA as
visible satellite imagery shows clear skies. These conditions will
continue into Tuesday as ridging dominates weather conditions,
keeping precipitation chances at bay. In addition, expect generally
light winds across the region as a weak pressure gradient remains in
place. However, due to daytime heating, expect breezier conditions
during the afternoon hours today and tomorrow due to diurnally
driven northerly flow, gusty winds will ensue and top out in the 15-
20 mph range. Temperatures will remain pleasant through tomorrow,
with highs today and tomorrow topping out in the 70s to low 80s
across the western zones of the CWA and into the lower to upper 80s
across eastern Wyoming and the Nebraska panhandle. Smoke from fires
to our our west may encroach into portions of our western zones this
evening into tonight.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Issued at 128 PM MDT Mon Sep 1 2025

Long term forecast starts relatively benign but might become
more active into the weekend as high pressure ridging finally
breaks down. Wednesday starts relatively cool with highs mostly
in the 70`s and a few low 80`s as a backdoor cold front moves
over the region. While this front will promote a more fall-like
day, a lack of convection from limited instability and moisture
will keep temperatures the primary impact from this boundary.
The ridge rebuilds on Thursday and we should see warmth return
as highs rebound back into the 80`s with some near 90`s possible
in the Nebraska Panhandle and along the border into Wyoming.
But then into Friday the boundary returns as the ridge begins
to breakdown and we see an influx of moisture moving into the
weekend. For Friday, temperatures drop back into the 70`s for
the day, and a few scattered showers and thunderstorms may
begin popping up across the mountains of our western and central
zones. Then over the weekend we`ll see fairly temperate 70`s to
low 80`s with precipitation chances on the rise as the ridge
breaks down fully and a low begins to move up from the Four
Corners region, which will bring a more active pattern moving
into next week. Sunday should have the best chances for more
widespread showers and storms with the upper low fully into the
region, but temperatures should remain fairly steady without a
cooler airmass in place.

Overall there is moderate to high confidence in the long term
forecast. Ensembles are generally in good agreement on the above
forecast, but analysis of the clusters does show a few
discrepancies in the placement and strength of the features
during the period. Overall expect quiet conditions for much of
the week, but an evolving pattern into the weekend that could
bring a more fall-like weather beyond the forecast period.
