Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
408 AM MDT Sun Oct 12 2025

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE HIGH PLAINS TODAY...

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front sweeping across the area will push the plentiful moisture
in place for the last several days out of the area. Strong westerly
winds are also expected to develop behind the front today, leading to
elevated fire weather conditions with RH between 15 and 25% and winds
gusting 40 to 55 mph. The wind prone areas can expect gusts of 60 to 65
mph. Winds will drop off quickly this evening and then turn around to
the southeast for Monday. Fairly strong south to southeast will develop
through the day Monday and into Monday night, gusting 30 to 45 mph, but
RH should remain above 25%. Fire weather concerns will be minimal
Tuesday through at least Thursday with higher moisture and lighter winds
returning.
