Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
237 AM MDT Tue Jun 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Much cooler temperatures are expected across the area for the next
two days in the wake of an unseasonably strong cold front. However,
very dry air and gusty winds are also moving in with the cooler
temperatures. Strong winds early this morning will gradually ease
through the day, but much of the area will remain breezy to windy
into the afternoon. The much drier airmass will still produce RH
values near or sub-critical, despite the drop in temperatures.
Therefore, expect periods of elevated to near critical fire weather
conditions today, especially in Wyoming. The chance for precipitation
is low today, but a few isolated showers may pop up near the Laramie
range, though the impacts, if any, may just be erratic winds.

Low level winds will turn easterly tonight and bring the dryline
back westwards, leading to minimal fire weather concerns for
Wednesday along and east of the Laramie range. Low RH and breezy
conditions may persist in the valleys of Carbon county. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon may bring gusty winds
again. Look for a warming trend to begin again on Thursday, but we
should maintain fairly decent low level moisture.
