... ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED SUNDAY FOR
THE HIGH PLAINS...
.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns will be minimal again today with plentiful
moisture in place over the area. However, a strong cold front will
sweep through the area early Sunday. While temperatures will cool
down, dewpoints will fall much faster, leading to minimum RH between
15 and 20% over much of the High Plains for Sunday afternoon. In
addition, strong, gusty, westerly winds are expected. Widespread
gusts of 40 to 55 mph can be expected for most of the area. The
typical wind prone areas can anticipate gusts of 55 to 65 mph.
Winds will ease late Sunday afternoon and then rotate around to
southerly for Monday. Widespread gusts of 30 to 45 mph out of
the south are expected for Monday, but RH should stay above 25%.
Ample moisture returning should keep fire weather concerns down
through much of next week.
