Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
248 AM MDT Sun Jun 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Several days of hot and largely dry weather are ahead of us, but
fuels remain not critical at this time. Today`s highs will be close
to 10F warmer than yesterday for the plains, leading to sub-critical
humidities for almost the entire area outside of the high mountains
as the dryline pushes eastward this morning. Occasional wind gusts
of 15 to 25 MPH are expected today along and west of the Laramie
range. We`ll be almost totally dry today, but a few very isolated
thunderstorms are possible primarily in Carbon, Albany, and Laramie
counties. The chance of a wetting rain is near zero, but some
lightning and/or gusty winds may be possible. Hot and dry again
Monday, but there may be a little more afternoon cloud cover and
thunderstorm coverage. The chance for a wetting rain will remain
very low, though more locations may see the lightning and gusty
winds. Tuesday looks similar, but with fewer storms and slightly
cooler temperatures. The next chance for more appreciable
precipitation looks to be Wednesday or Thursday.
