slight chance range (15-30 percent) behind a cold front

Showers and embedded thunderstorms end from west to east tonight as
a weak trough of low pressure moves through the area. Winds will
generally be from a easterly to northerly direction and remain light
throughout the night. Skies become mostly clear to partly cloudy
across the western half of the CWA overnight with the eastern half
remaining partly to mostly cloudy. Lows tonight are expected to
range from the upper 50s across far western Kansas to mid 60s across
south central Kansas.

A dry pattern emerges tomorrow through the first part of next week
with northwest flow aloft. A few showers or storms will be possible
across central Kansas through Monday then be pushed southward as a
dry cold front moves through the area Monday night. Winds will
generally be light and from a northerly direction through Tuesday.
Highs Sunday through Tuesday will generally be in the upper 70s to
low 80s with far western Kansas experiencing the warmest
temperatures. Lows will generally be in the 50s.

Long range ensemble models then depict an upper level low diving
south from Canada and into the northern Plains mid week. This will
push a cold front through the area sometime Wednesday shifting winds
to the north. As of now temperatures do not seem to be effected by
this front Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, but
this may need to be adjusted if the front moves through earlier than
expected. Cloud cover increases behind this front with a slight
chance of rain. However this will be short lived as the dry pattern
reemerges throughout the remainder of the forecast with mostly clear
to partly cloudy skies. Cooler temperatures are expected Thursday
behind the front with highs in the 70s. We then rebound into the
upper 70s to low 80s late week into the weekend.

Showers and a few isolated thunderstorms may impact the vicinity of
KHYS and possibly KDDC through early/mid-evening. Otherwise,lingering
MVFR cigs in vicinity of KHYS are expected to spread west-southwest
late this evening through early Sunday as prevailing low level stratus
begins to lower/redevelop westward, increasing the potential for
MVFR/IFR cigs as far west as KGCK and KLBL by daybreak Sunday. Light
and variable winds are likely through much of the period as a weak
surface low in southwest Kansas sinks slowly southward into the Texas
Panhandle/western Oklahoma.
