.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 119 PM CDT Mon Jun 8 2026

The main concerns with the forecast is the hot temperatures and
storm chances over the next few days. A few thunderstorms are
expected to form across northern Kansas this afternoon and move east
into central Kansas this evening. A majority of the storms should
remain north of the area but a few could ride along the I-70
corridor. Any storms that do develop will have a good chance of
becoming severe with large hail and damaging winds being the main
concern. In addition, an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
Further south, expect mostly clear skies and highs reaching into the
90s with around 100 degrees along the KS/OK border. Dewpoints will
also be high across south central Kansas this afternoon where heat
indices around 105 degrees will be possible this afternoon. A heat
advisory has been issued to account for this. Winds this afternoon
will generally be from the north to northeast this afternoon,
shifting to an easterly direction overnight. Low tonight look to
range from around 60 degrees across west central Kansas to mid 70s
across south central Kansas.

Winds then shift to the south tomorrow with an increase in speed.
Temperatures will reach around 100 degrees for highs tomorrow
afternoon but with lower surface dewpoints the heat indices should
remain around the same level. A few thunderstorms are expected to
develop across southeast Colorado and far western Kansas tomorrow
afternoon and trek eastward as the day progresses. A few storms may
become severe west of highway 283 with large hail and damaging winds
being the main concern. As of now, storms should weaken as they trek
eastward in the evening. Cloud cover then decrease in coverage
overnight tomorrow night with mostly clear skies expected Wednesday.
Lows tomorrow night are expected to range from the mid 60s across
west central Kansas to upper 70s across south central Kansas. Highs
Wednesday will range from the mid 90s across west central Kansas to
low 100s along the KS/OK border.

A dry cold front is still scheduled to move through the area
Wednesday night, followed by north winds and a break from the heat
Thursday onward. There may be a storm across the southeast counties
with this cold front passage Wednesday night, but most locations
will remain dry. A wet and cooler pattern is expected for the
remainder of the forecast as a series of disturbances move through
the area. Temperatures Thursday through this weekend look to reach
into the 80s to low 90s.

VFR conditions will prevail through tomorrow with the exception

will dissipate over the next few hours. Thereafter a few
thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon into this
evening. If one of these storms move over the terminal, lower
