320 FXUS63 KDDC 221024 AFDDDC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Dodge City KS 524 AM CDT Sat Aug 22 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Continued hot temperatures this weekend - A storm complex is possible across NW/N Kansas late tonight, however, the rest of the FA should remain dry - Better thunderstorm chances next week && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1111 PM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026 Today should be generally hot and dry. Highs should be mainly in the 90s, although a few 100s will be possible along the Oklahoma border. Some of the CAMs should storms developing across the High Plains late tonight and moving across NW/N Kansas during the overnight hours to early morning hours. The highest pops will be confined to just the northern zones to account for this possibility. Otherwise, the rest of the FA will likely remain dry and storm-free. Lows will be mainly in the 60s tonight, with a few 70s near Medicine Lodge. Much of the same weather will continue Sunday with hot highs, warm lows, and perhaps an isolated storm or two. The mid-level ridge will start to sink southward across New Mexico by middle portion of next week. This will allow storms to develop across the High Plains and propagate SE towards western Kansas though several days of next week. Therefore, there is some good news that we could see more storm opportunities more needed rainfall next week. Highs will remain seasonably warm with values peaking in the 90s. Lows will be in the mix of 60s to 70s. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...
