...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /11 AM MDT/ TODAY TO 8 PM
CDT /7 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...High temperatures will range from 103 to near 107. Heat
  index values around 105 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west
  central Kansas.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /11 AM MDT/ today to 8 PM CDT /7 PM MDT/ this
  evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This is a prolonged period of near record
  breaking heat for the area, so multiple days of heat preparedness
  and precautions should be taken. Additional heat headlines will be
  evaluated day to day.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
