...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, St. Louis County.

* WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 456 AM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar and automated rain
    gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor
    flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
    advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Ely, Lake Vermilion, Mountain Iron, Cook, Tower, Meadow
    Brook, Gheen, Soudan Underground Mine State Park, Boundary
    Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Near Trout Lake, Bear Head Lake
    State Park, Robinson, Burntside Lake, Pelican Lake, McCarthy
    Beach State Park, Birch Lake, White Iron Lake, Fall Lake,
    western Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Perch Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
