.DISCUSSION...
The primary weather concern heading into the weekend is the
increasing danger of fire weather across the Northland. A
combination of record-setting warmth, dry conditions, and strong
winds will create an environment where any fire that starts could
spread very rapidly. Southerly winds will strengthen on Saturday
with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. The wind will become even more powerful
on Sunday as a cold front approaches, with the potential for gusts
to reach 45 mph. While the front will bring an end to the extreme
heat Sunday evening, it is not expected to produce widespread rain,
and dry and breezy conditions will likely keep the fire weather
concern in place into early next week. Please exercise extreme
caution with any outdoor burning this weekend.
