A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect starting at 6 PM this evening for Iron and Ashland Counties, with highest snow accumulations expected in the higher elevations. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Lake effect snowfall accumulating 4 to 8 inches is expected on Sunday into Monday morning over portions of Ashland and Iron counties. Locally higher amounts in excess of 8 inches may occur in the higher elevations of northern Iron County. Heaviest lake effect snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour will be possible on Sunday, leading to greatly reduced visibility. Waves will also be building up to 5 feet along the South Shore tonight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Breezy northerly winds up to 25 knots continue on Sunday through Sunday night with elevated waves along the South Shore, creating conditions hazardous for small craft. Conditions hazardous to small craft will likely return on Tuesday and persist into Thursday.
