Rain will change to snow through the day today across northeast Minnesota, with rain continuing through the day for northwest Wisconsin before changing to snow this evening. A band of heavy snow is expected this evening into Wednesday for much of the area with snowfall rates of more than 1 inch per hour. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Snow will taper off from west to east Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. Heavy lake-effect snow will continue along the South Shore into Thursday. Travel will be very difficult in the days ahead of Thanksgiving. Rain and snow are expected to produce reduced visibilities. Gales to 35 knots are expected with a 30 to 60% chance of gusts to 45 knots this afternoon and tonight. The highest probabilities will be found along the North Shore from Silver Bay to Grand Portage and over the Outer Apostle Islands. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday A strong storm system will continue to impact western Lake Superior through Thursday. Rain and snow are expected to produce reduced visibilities. Gales to 35 knots are expected Wednesday into Wednesday night with a 30 to 60% chance of gusts to 45 knots through Wednesday night. The highest probabilities will be found along the North Shore from Silver Bay to Grand Portage and over the Outer Apostle Islands.
