Storm surveys for tornadoes in northern Iowa have been completed utilizing photographic evidence and high resolution satellite imagery. Two additional tornadoes have been confirmed, one to the southwest of Crystal Lake in Hancock County, with a second to the west of Forest City in Winnebago County. Both tornadoes occurred entirely over agricultural land. .Crystal Lake Tornado... Rating: EF-U Estimated Peak Wind: Unknown Path Length /statute/: 1.24 miles Path Width /maximum/: 20 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 07/28/2025 Start Time: 11:50 PM CDT Start Location: 3 SW Crystal Lake / Hancock County / IA Start Lat/Lon: 43.1899 / -93.8371 End Date: 07/28/2025 End Time: 11:52 PM CDT End Location: 2 SSW Crystal Lake / Hancock County / IA End Lat/Lon: 43.1887 / -93.8131 Survey Summary: High resolution satellite imagery revealed a clear, narrow tornado track in agricultural fields beginning just east of the Lake George Wildlife Management area in Hancock County. The tornado traveled eastward for approximately one and a quarter miles crossing Hill Ave and dissipating just west of Iowa Ave. The rating for the tornado is EF-U for unknown wind speed due to the lack of official damage indicators in the tornadic path. .West of Forest City Tornado... Rating: EF-U Estimated Peak Wind: Unknown Path Length /statute/: 0.45 miles Path Width /maximum/: 20 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 08/17/2025 Start Time: 06:13 PM CDT Start Location: 3 NNE Crystal Lake / Winnebago County / IA Start Lat/Lon: 43.265 / -93.7775 End Date: 08/17/2025 End Time: 06:15 PM CDT End Location: 3 NNE Crystal Lake / Winnebago County / IA End Lat/Lon: 43.2608 / -93.7719 Survey Summary: Photographic evidence and high resolution satellite imagery revealed a clear landspout type tornado track in agricultural fields beginning just east of 100th Ave, between 330th and 350th Avenues. The tornado tracked northward for a short distance, before crossing 100th Ave, and then traveled northwest through another ag field. The tornado dissipated very near a farmstead just south of 350th Ave. The rating for the tornado is also EF-U for unknown wind speed due to the lack of official damage indicators in the tornadic path. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the events and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ NWS DMX
