Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
258 AM CDT Mon Sep 23 2024

Today:

All is quiet early this morning after showers and storms moved
through the state over the weekend. A much cooler airmass has
settled into the area and has temperatures in the low 40s to low
50s, with the coolest readings over portions western and northern
Iowa. Winds were relatively light under partly cloudy skies.

A few showers are possible today over southeastern Iowa, otherwise
skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. Afternoon highs will top out
around 70s degrees with light south to southeast wind.

Tonight and Beyond:

A few light showers move through western Iowa on Tuesday, but the
bulk of the next several days will be dry as high temperatures rebound
to the mid to upper 70s. Our next chance for widespread rainfall may
arrive late in the week and over the weekend as remnants of a tropical
system swing northward, however the forecast for late in the week
remains highly uncertain at this time.
