.SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...

Deep northwesterly flow aloft continues across the Upper Midwest
through Monday. High pressure is forecast to drift across the
area with lighter winds today and Monday. Temperatures today
will be cooler ranging from 75 to 80 degrees. Dewpoints today
will be noticeably lower and be in the mid to upper 50s so it
will feel pleasant across the area today. Temperatures Sunday
night will drop into the mid to upper 50s.

On Monday, model consensus as surface high pressure to the east
o the area with light southerly return flow setting up across
the area. Aloft, models show a slight eastward shift in high
pressure to our southwest which pushes the northwest flow east
of the area. Quiet weather is expected through the day but some
models show a subtle shortwave within the flow that could
overspread the area. The current forecast and NBM consensus for
Monday is dry with sunny skies and precipitation remaining to
the west across central and western Iowa. Depending on the exact
placement of this shortwave, decaying showers may move into the
far western edge of our CWA west of a Vinton to Fairfield to
Keosauqua line with dry air in place across the area. High
temperatures on Monday are expected to be in the upper 70s.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...

Northwesterly flow aloft is forecast to continue through the
upcoming week. A storm system is forecast to pass to our north
and east Tuesday night through Wednesday night with 25 to 40
percent chances of showers and storms. Models show a slight
increase in moisture ahead of this storm system. Currently the
higher chances of precipitation are across northwest Illinois.
Rainfall amounts will be light with generally less than a tenth
of an inch expected. High temperatures on Wednesday will be
slightly warmer with high temperatures in the lower to mid 80s.

After Wednesday night, models show the northwest flow as another
shortwaves tops the western US ridge flattening the flow to a
zonal. This will overspread the area late Friday into Saturday
bringing anther low chance of precipitation to the area.
