...Synopsis...
An amplified large-scale trough will advance eastward across the
western CONUS on Saturday. In response, a surface low will gradually
deepen over the northern High Plains, while a lee trough extends
southward along the remainder of the High Plains. The tightening
pressure gradient peripheral to the deepening lee trough will result
in breezy southerly surface winds over much of the Plains.

Along the eastern periphery of the more substantial moisture return,
around 15-20 mph sustained southerly surface winds will overlap
25-35 percent RH over the Middle MO Valley and northern Plains. This
should favor several hours of elevated fire-weather conditions
during the afternoon, followed by precipitation into the
evening/overnight hours.

Farther south, surface winds will not be quite as strong over the
southern Plains. However, given dry/receptive fuels over parts of
Northwest TX into southwest OK, around 15 mph sustained southerly
surface winds and 20-25 percent RH could still yield locally
elevated fire-weather conditions.
