.DISCUSSION...The upper level ridge has started to weaken and a
trough is approaching the west coast bringing cooler daytime
temperatures, higher afternoon RH and better RH recoveries.
Locally critical fire weather conditions can be expected today and
Wednesday with the afternoon breezes. Winds will be strongest
channeled through the terrain and as well as ridges around the
King Range and interior Del Norte. As the upper level trough
starts to move onshore this will allow the marine layer to deepen
and push farther inland. This also brings the potential for dry
thunderstorms late in the week in the Trinities and Yolla Bolla
mountains. These are possible as early as Thursday, however
confidence remains low, at 5 to 10 percent.
