.DISCUSSION...Localized Critical fire weather is forecast to
continue through Sunday. Recoveries tonight could reach 60
percent at about 2100 ft, but could sharply decrease with
elevation. Confidence in humidity recovery is low to moderate with
such a potential sharp gradient. Wind speeds will increase by
afternoon, with sheltering of gusts on south facing slopes.
Diurnal wind trends will drive morning upslope/upvalley
transitions. Light variable morning breezes will transition to
northwest at 7 to 10 mph Sunday afternoon, with gusts up to 12
mph. Gusts of 20 mph possible on west/north slopes Sunday
afternoon. Overnight humidity recovery Sunday night is forecast to
reach a moderate 65 to 68 percent as winds decouple to variable 2
to 4 mph. Again, humidity levels could drop sharply with
elevation. On Monday, afternoon northwest winds will reach 5 to 7
mph under mixing heights extending to 22003000 ft AGL. Nocturnal
inversions below 1600 ft AGL will trap patchy smoke within the
lower drainages (Mill Creek/Norton Creek) through early morning
before thermal mixing clears valley inversions by midday.
