DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hernan was
located near latitude 18.0 North, longitude 131.9 West. Hernan is
moving toward the west-southwest near 3 mph (6 km/h). A turn toward
the southwest and south is expected over the next couple days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with
higher gusts. A weakening trend is expected to begin later tonight
through Friday, and Hernan is forecast to become a post-tropical
remnant low by this weekend.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
