DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Octave was located near latitude 16.3 North, longitude 122.2 West. Octave is moving toward the east near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn toward the east-southeast is expected later today, continuing into Wednesday, followed by a turn toward the northeast and an acceleration by Thursday. Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. A steady weakening trend is expected to continue through midweek. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 993 mb (29.33 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
