The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Dust Advisory for...
  South central Grant County in southwestern New Mexico...
  Northern Hidalgo County in southwestern New Mexico...

* Until 900 PM MDT.

* At 741 PM MDT, spotty showers continued to produce plumes of
  blowing dust along Lordsburg Playa. Meanwhile, a larger area of
  blowing dust east pushing towards Lordsburg from the east. This
  area will push towards the Arizona border through sunset,
  affecting Interstate 10 and portions of State Highway 9.

  HAZARD...Less than one mile visibility with strong winds up to 40
           mph.

  SOURCE...Detected by National Weather Service meteorologists.

  IMPACT...Hazardous travel.

* This includes Interstate 10 in New Mexico between mile markers 1
  and 42.


Additional thunderstorm development is possible as outflow moves in
from the east. Stronger storms could result in worse visibilities
what is currently being observed.

Locations impacted include...
Rodeo, Lordsburg, Cotton City, Hachita, Steins, Animas, Playas, Road
Forks, Separ, Windmill, Lordsburg Playa, Granite Gap, Shakespeare,
Pyramid Mountains, and Hachita Valley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving
conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in
dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep
your foot off the brake.
