The NM-9 Hermanas Draw low water crossing on

0700 PM Flash Flood 10 ESE Hachita 31.86N 108.16W
07/20/2026 Luna NM NWS Storm Survey
Significant flooding occurred the night of
7/20, with water crossing NM-9 from the
west, chewing up pavement. Flow from the WNW
filled a playa called The Lake in USGS maps,
with flows converging just upstream of
Victorio Ranch. Water was divided by Highway
9 and the former EPSW RR grade. Still it
managed to completely submerge 4-wire fences
at the ranch, and breach two earthen berms.
Time estimated.

07/20/2026 Luna NM Emergency Mngr
Deep water across NM-11 coming from the west
along Whirlwind Road.
0730 PM Flash Flood 17 WNW Columbus 31.96N 107.89W
07/20/2026 Luna NM Emergency Mngr

0745 PM Flash Flood 16 SSW Deming 32.04N 107.86W
07/20/2026 Luna NM Emergency Mngr
Flooding on the Hermanas Grade Road and an
adjacent ranch, just north of the aerostat
site. Paddocks were inundated, but buildings
appeared dry. Time estimated.
0815 PM Flash Flood 2 SSE Columbus 31.80N 107.63W
07/20/2026 Luna NM NWS Employee
NM-11 was closed due to flooding on the
night of 7/20. Next day survey showed water
flowed down Black Hill Road from west of
NM-11, partially bypassing flood control
structures still under construction.
Significant water collection in those
structures suggests flooding would have been
much worse without them.
0900 PM Flash Flood 11 SE Gage 32.10N 107.97W
07/20/2026 Luna NM Emergency Mngr
Flash flooding inundated the intersection of
County Road C022 - Desert Eagle Rd, and
C020. Several paddocks at an adjacent ranch
were also flooded. An earthen berm breach
may have contributed to the flooding, so the
estimated time is highly uncertain.
