The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Central Otero County in south central New Mexico...

* Until 400 PM MDT.

* At 313 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles northeast
  of Sunspot, moving northeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Timberon, Sacramento, Alamogordo, Sunspot, Mayhill, Weed, Benson
  Ridge, Hay Canyon, Cox Canyon, Boles Acres, Karr Canyon, Oliver Lee
  State Park, Bug Scuttle Ranch, High Nogal, Surveyors Canyon, Miller
  Flats, Bluff Springs, The Otero Mesa, and Upper Karr Canyon.

This includes the following highways...
 Highway 70 in New Mexico between mile markers 211 and 212.
 Highway 54 in New Mexico between mile markers 40 and 64.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
