229 FXUS62 KFFC 131117 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 617 AM EST Thu Nov 13 2025 ...New 12Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 615 AM EST Thu Nov 13 2025 - Steady warming through the end of the week. Mild temperatures, highs 8 to 14 degrees above average, should prevail between Saturday and next Wednesday. - Mostly dry conditions will persist through the weekend, with an approaching system potentially bringing showers and thunderstorms by early next week. Uncertainty on timing and amounts remain high. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Friday) Issued at 401 AM EST Thu Nov 13 2025 Surface high pressure continues to dominate through today into tomorrow. 500 mb heights show quick hitting shortwave trough moving out of the Northeast putting surface high right over us here in the southeast. Small upper level ridge within northwest flow to our north will only serve to reinforce the surface high into Friday. Temperatures will continue to warm with highs today in the upper 60s to low 70s both today and tomorrow (tomorrow looks to be a few degrees warmer than today for most locations). Dry air and clear skies will allow lows to fall into the upper 30s to low 40s tonight. && .LONG TERM... (Friday night through Wednesday) Issued at 401 AM EST Thu Nov 13 2025 At the start of the period surface high pressure will still be in place and a midlevel ridge building across the Plains. Northwest flow aloft will act to usher a few disturbances and weak surface fronts through the region late weekend and next week. The first of which will pass to our north on Sunday. Aside from a low potential (< 15%) for rain showers across the northeast GA mountains early Sunday morning most places will remain dry through Monday. The next series of fronts will pass through the region between Tuesday and Friday. Ensemble inconsistencies as far as exact timing of any rainfall and the extent of rainfall remain. Thus, continue to highlight low rain chances (15-30%) between Tuesday through Thursday with the highest chances currently relegated across North GA. With no notable change in the airmass that will be in place, warm above normal temperatures are currently expected through the long term period. Daytime highs are forecast to be in the 70s -- mid to upper 60s in the mountains and mild overnight lows in the 40s and 50s. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 615 AM EST Thu Nov 13 2025 VFR through the TAF period. A few minor vsby impacts from BR are present around metro, but these should be very temporary for any sites that are impacted and lift by 13Z. Otherwise, mostly SKC with some periods where a few cirrus may be present. Winds will be from WNW to NW across all sites, 5-10 kts, going light to calm overnight. //ATL Confidence...12Z Update...
