 - Oppressive heat will continue through early next week. A Heat
   Advisory remains in effect through Sunday evening and
   additional heat headlines are likely.

 - Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be around to some
   degree each afternoon, with primary threats being gusty winds
   and locally heavy rainfall.

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Sunday)

Heat will continue to be the name of the game as an expansive ridge
will remain stretched across the southern U.S. As such, our ongoing
heat headlines will remain unchanged with a Heat Advisory in
effect for all areas outside of the northeast Georgia mountains
through Sunday evening. Temperatures on Sunday will again warm
well into the 90s alongside muggy 70s dewpoints, resulting in
widespread 105-109 heat index values. While the Heat Advisory
currently ends 8 PM Sunday, expect it to be extended further with
time as the heat will be going nowhere heading into early next
week.

As far as rain chances on Sunday, coverage looks to trend downward
across north Georgia as compared to today courtesy of a swath of
drier air arriving at the midlevels. Still, isolated to scattered
coverage of diurnal convection would be favored across Middle
Georgia.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday morning through next Friday)

Unfortunately the heat looks to stick around North and Central GA as
we head into next week. Latest global ensembles and deterministic
guidance remains in fair agreement with broad ridging staying put
but gradually breaking down from mid to late week as an upper low
dips southward from Canada and additional disturbances traverse the
mid-level flow. Monday is likely to be the warmest day with forecast
temperatures in the upper 90s for most places outside of the higher
elevations. Similar temperatures trends are forecast through mid-
week before we could see a slight dip in temperatures (back to the
lower 90s) late in the week as the ridging loses its grip and rain
chances return. Heat indices will likely remain at or above 105F
areawide (outside of the higher elevations) on Monday, possibly
Tuesday, and eventually being more confined to Central GA later in
the period. So anticipate heat headlines to continue early next week.

Coverage of thunderstorms will be limited to start off the work week
as ridging aloft still remains strong. But from mid-week onward
isolated to scattered thunderstorms return. Thunderstorm chances and
cloud cover may provide some relief from the heat but daytime
temperatures and heat indices are still forecast to be in the 90s to
low 100s respectively for most places. Continue to keep the heat in
mind, both day and night, as you plan outdoor work and activities
for next week.

VFR through TAF period. Light winds overnight will move back to NW
during afternoon Sunday at 4-8 kts. Some afternoon cu expected.
Chances of afternoon TSRA are not zero, but too small for mention
