.DISCUSSION...
Good morning! Likely a dreary start on Saturday morning in Athens.
Patchy fog and lower clouds will set up early Saturday morning and
isolated to scattered rain showers may be ongoing by this time as
well. Temperatures at 8AM will be in the low 70s rising to near 80
by 12PM, and to a high temperature between 84-86 by 3PM. While
temperatures will be `lower` than we have seen in recent days, it
will feel quite humid through the day. Between 12PM-6PM heat index
values will range between 93-96F. The potential for showers and
thunderstorms will only increase heading into the afternoon with
chances upwards of 60% after 12PM. Prior to 12PM chances will
range between 30-40%. While organized severe weather is unlikely,
a few storms may become strong and capable of producing frequent
lightning, locally heavy rain, and gusty winds (30-40 mph).
Forecast rainfall will largely be less than a quarter of an inch,
but ample moisture will support showers and thunderstorms being
efficient rainfall producers. So a passing shower or storm could
drop a quick 1-2 inches. Outside of storm outflows, prevailing
winds on Saturday will be SW at 5-7 mph with gusts of around 10
mph, becoming light and variable after sunset.
