...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
.DISCUSSION...
Good morning, here is your forecast focusing on impacts Today
through Tonight. The main concern through the period will be
continued heat risk across the area. A heat advisory is in effect
through 8pm. Max heat indices today will be between 100 and 104
with locally higher values dependent on concrete/asphalt coverage.
Timing of maximum heat risk will be around 4pm this afternoon.
A slightly drier airmass is filtering into the area but we will
still see isolated thunderstorms chances this afternoon and
evening. We will not see as much coverage as yesterday but we will
still see a 20% chance peaking between 3pm and 10pm. Storm
coverage will be spotty and any thunderstorm is unlikely to last
much more than 1 hour. The main hazard with any thunderstorm will
be lightning, though brief locally gusty winds up to 40mph may be
possible.
Winds will be mainly out of the W to NW in the 3-7mph range.
This may make conditions feel hotter than usual and may reduce
sweat efficiency. Low winds may also cause issues with smoke
disbursal. Significant firework smoke/haze will be slow to
disperse and may settle into low lying areas through the following
early morning. The good news is that RH values should remain
below 90 percent, which will help to limit fog formation on top
of haze, except for localized low lying and wet areas.
