Northwest winds continue to gradually decrease this afternoon and evening, becoming light. Overnight temperatures will fall to the teens and 20s (north to south), with wind chills making it feel like the single digits to teens. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. There is a chance for some patchy dense fog early Thursday morning for areas along and north of Highway 14 and into southwestern Minnesota. Fog should burn off by mid-morning. Confidence is increasing in a potentially impactful winter storm moving through the area Friday through Saturday. Accumulating snow is expected with a High Probability (>70%) of at least 6 inches of snow for areas east of I-29. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Friday afternoon through Saturday evening for counties in southwestern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa. Adjustments to the area of heaviest snowfall and amounts are still possible as details emerge over the next 24 to 36 hours. However, with such a strong signal for impactful snowfall now is the time to begin monitoring the forecast and prepare. Especially if you have travel plans as they may be delayed or become difficult. This storm system will be followed by a stretch of even colder air, with sub-zero nighttime wind chills early next week. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... However, with such a strong signal for impactful snowfall now is the time to begin monitoring the forecast and prepare. Especially if you have travel plans as they may be delayed or become difficult.
