.DISCUSSION...

Chances for showers and thunderstorms continue today, along and
south of I-90, mainly across parts of southeast South Dakota,
southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and far northeast Nebraska.
Rain chances remain in the forecast for the weekend and next week
though details on amounts and location of rain is uncertain.

Temperatures will warm to the 70s, 80s, and low 90s across the area
today. High temperatures will remain in the 70s, 80s, and low 90s
through the weekend and next week. With a more humid airmass in
place, humidity values look to only fall to around 50% most days.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
