259 FNUS63 KFSD 050858 RFDFSD Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD 358 AM CDT Sun Oct 5 2025 .DISCUSSION... A cold front is pushing through the area this morning, resulting in light rain showers and gusty winds. Coverage in the light showers will wane through the morning hours along with slowly decreasing winds while wind direction turns westerly. The lowest humidity values will come just behind the front this afternoon as high temperatures warm to the mid 60s to low 80s from northwest to southeast. The lowest humidity values will lie along and southeast of a Marshall, Minnesota to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Yankton, South Dakota line where humidity values will fall to around 30%. At the same time, this is also the same area where winds will be weakest with gusts weakening to just about 25 mph. Thus, some elevated fire danger is possible with fire danger capping out at high across mainly northwest Iowa. Low fire danger is expected for Monday and Tuesday but could see elevated fire danger make a comeback on Wednesday. Highs will warm to the upper 60s and 70s with dew points falling to the upper 30s and 40s. This will result in humidity values down to 30-50%. Winds will re-srengthen out of the south with gusts up to 20-35 mph expected. However, the strongest winds look to be displaced from the lowest humidity at this time.
