.DISCUSSION...

Heavy rain and thunderstorms will be moving into the Highway 20
corridor through the early morning hours, with a lighter and
steadier rain (with some thunder) continuing farther north. All
this activity will gradually push to the east and taper off
through the daytime morning hours.

Low clouds will help keep relative humidity values in the 60-90%
range even during the afternoon and thus the fire danger will be
low today. Winds will be out of the east-northeast throughout the
day, gusting to about 25 mph at times. Periodic shower and storms
chances look to continue through Saturday before drying out by
Sunday.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
