National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD
411 AM CDT Fri Jul 10 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Isolated showers and storms are possible along the US Hwy 14
corridor this morning. Otherwise, additional isolated to scattered
showers and storms may develop later this afternoon through this
evening. Temperatures today in the mid 80s to mid 90s.

Dry conditions are expected this weekend through at least early
next week. Much warmer temperatures are also anticipated, with
daily highs in the 90s to lower 100s. By Monday, RH values may
fall below 30% west of the James River into portions of the MO
River Valley. Extended hot and dry weather could lead to locally
elevated fire concerns, especially in areas which have not seen
significant recent precipitation.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
