236 FNUS63 KFSD 232348 RFDFSD Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD 648 PM CDT Fri Oct 23 2026 .DISCUSSION... Issued at 643 PM CDT FRI Oct 23 2026 Breezy southeast wind gusts between 25 and 30 mph will continue into the early evening, with very high GFDI conditions continuing through that time as well. While grassland moisture levels and RH remain high enough to prevent widespread red flag warnings, AG related fire danger will be near critical into early evening. Harvest activities may want to postpone until winds subside and local partners need to remain vigilant into the evening. A front moves from west to east early Saturday turning winds west northwesterly and bringing increased rain chances through the weekend. A widespread wetting rain is likely early in the work week. People are urged to exercise extreme care with respect to outdoor activities that could cause grass fires. Avoid equipment that can cause sparks near dry grass or brush. Do not toss cigarettes on the ground. Report new fires quickly to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office.
