Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD
438 AM CDT Mon Jun 24 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Hot and humid today with highs in the 90s and RH values above 45%.
Southerly winds may gust around 25 to 30 mph, but recent rainfall
keeps fire danger low. Showers and storms are possible this
afternoon and evening; if storms can develop, they could quickly
become severe and produce locally heavy rainfall. Another threat
for showers and storms exists Tuesday, including another
conditional risk of severe weather. Dry Wednesday, with unsettled
weather returning by late week.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
