...ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS WESTERN NORTH AND
CENTRAL TEXAS...

Above-average temperatures between 98-102 degrees and afternoon RH
values of 25-35% will create a favorable setup for fire starts
this afternoon, primarily west of the I-35 corridor. South winds
at 10-15 mph with occasional gusts to 20 mph will also raise the
potential for fire spread this afternoon and early evening. Some
low-level cloud cover will be present in the early morning hours
across Central Texas, however skies will become mostly sunny by
late morning. Temperatures will drop into the low 90s and relative
humidity will rebound into the 40-50% range by late evening,
reducing the fire threat.

Extreme care is urged during all outside activities where there
is a potential for grass fires to get started. Avoid outside
burning and welding. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside.
Report wildfires to the nearest fire department or law
enforcement office quickly.
