Grass Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Fort Worth TX
636 AM CST Thu Feb 19 2026

...ELEVATED FIRE THREAT FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH TEXAS LATE THURSDAY
MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING...

Despite the rain that fell last weekend, well above average
temperatures combined with low humidity this week has allowed for
fuels to dry out across portions of North Texas. In conjunction
with these drier fuels, strong west winds sustained at 15-20 mph
along with afternoon RH values dipping into the 15-20% range will
result in an elevated fire threat for the following counties:
Stephens, Palo Pinto, Parker, Wise, Denton, Grayson, Collin, and
Fannin counties.

Extreme care is urged during all outside activities where there
is a potential for grass fires to ignite. Avoid outside burning
and welding. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside. Report
wildfires to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office
quickly.
