.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Through the middle of this week, expect generally less active
weather for northeast MT with temperatures above normal.

- A strong low pressure system from the Pacific coast will favor
the return of more widespread strong thunderstorms this
  weekend.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Today through Thursday, an area of weak high pressure will
approach from the west, keeping temperatures warmer than normal
and limiting precipitation coverage overall.

Beginning this weekend, a tightly-wound low pressure system will
move through the Pacific Northwest, directing a strong jet streak
toward Montana. Other severe weather parameters may combine to
support strong to severe thunderstorms.

By Sunday, the back side of this strong storm system will wrap
around some unusually cold air into northeast Montana. Some higher
elevations of central Montana could see some snowfall as a result.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Temperature forecast is above average. Precipitation forecast is
average. Details of timing and amounts of rain showers and/or
thunderstorms this weekend in below average, but should increase
in a few days.

Used a more-reliable blend of hi-res models for the forecast for
Days 1-2. Kept NBM for the rest of the forecast.
