Area Forecast Discussion

.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- A cool rain is possible tomorrow (Tuesday) in parts of the area.
Some mix with snow is possible from Whitewater to Plentywood.

- Warmer and windy conditions can be expected Thursday.

- Cooler and more unsettled conditions can be expected into the
  weekend.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
A more unsettled pattern can be expected this week as an upper
trough develops off the Pacific Northwest coast through Tuesday.
This will break down a ridge over the Northern Rockies that will
allow more unsettled conditions for the region that continues into
the weekend.

Broad W-SW flow over the area today will send a disturbance east
across eastern Montana Tuesday. Wet conditions over central
Montana will dry a bit but colder air over Sask will filter in and
possibly bringing a mix of rain and snow to some areas north of
Highway 2, generally near the Canadian border though.

A stronger system is possible Wednesday night into Thursday with
stronger winds. Isolated rain showers look to stay near the
Canadian border.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
No change from NBM for the forecast.

Confidence for shortwaves later in the period decreases with
higher differences in track and timing.
