WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Upper ridge remains over the Rocky Mountain states through the week. A shortwave is pushing through the top of the ridge into the Canadian prairies today. This will drag a weak cold front across eastern Montana it could set some showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. The most severe cells look to be focused across the Yellowstone Valley before jumping the MT/ND border. There is uncertainty here with some CAMs moving the boundary across the border entirely before generating anything leaving the location mostly dry. For Monday and Tuesday with the ridge blunted to the south flow becomes zonal, dry, and cooler. The pattern begins to warm up past mid week with the ridge rebounding. There is some suggestion that we may be looking at 100s for highs with excessive heat warnings again if this comes to pass from the ensemble data. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence around thunderstorms is very low across eastern Montana today. && .AVIATION... VFR. A few thunderstorms are possible in the Yellowstone valley this afternoon with a cold front passage. && .GGW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ weather.gov/glasgow
