.KEY MESSAGES...
- Expecting some scattered rain showers and a few isolated
  thunderstorms overnight tonight through Wednesday morning.

- Thursday will be the warmest day this week with above to much
  above normal temperatures.

- A cold front will bring wind and cooler temperatures later this
  weekend.

.DISCUSSION...
SYNOPTIC SETUP:

Large scale flow aloft from the southwest generally over our
region will continue to direct a few weak storm systems across
eastern Montana, but some warm high pressure influence will be
felt between these systems. That will be enough to allow daytime
temperatures to climb into the mid to upper 80s again by Thursday.

In the meantime, the main disturbance expected to impact our
region will be overnight tonight through Wednesday. The
trajectory of this system will take the best chances for
accumulating precipitation near, along and south of the Big Sheep
Mountains of eastern Montana. Some isolated locations may see as
much as 0.25 inch of rainfall.

Sometime on Saturday this weekend, a pronounced low pressure
system from British Columbia will begin to push through the
northern Rockies of Idaho and western Montana. Models are
currently showing not much rainfall will that system, so most of
the noticeable change early next week will be gusty winds
associated with the cold front on Sat/Sun and generally lower
temperatures moving on from there.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Confidence is generally average to above average for increasing
clouds and rain chances after midnight tonight. Lower confidence
for the finer details of exact placement and amount of rainfall,
as most of the hi-res model data shows a scattered showery nature
to the precipitation.

Did not see any glaring reasons to deviate from the NBM.

LAST UPDATED: 1950Z, Tuesday, Sept 22

FLIGHT CAT RANGE: VFR, becoming LIFR by early tomorrow morning for
KSDY and KGDV

DISCUSSION: Earlier fog and low clouds have dissipated except for
far SE Montana and far SW North Dakota. Generally tonight through
tomorrow, expect cloudiness to increase and ceilings to lower as a
small low pressure system moves NE through the area. Those
remnants lower clouds will expand and move back into more of
eastern Montana as scattered showers from Miles City through
Sidney generally provide a wetting rain. For NE MT TAF sites, KGGW
and KOLF will get next to nothing, while KSDY and KGDV are primed
to get up to 0.25 inch of rainfall.

Winds today from the southeast around 10 to 15 mph and a few
stronger gusts will weaken to light and variable overnight and
tomorrow.
