KEY MESSAGES: - The Lake Wind Advisory has been extended through 6 PM today. - A frontal passage on Sunday with a brief opportunity for scattered rain Sunday night. - Gusty to strong winds following a low pressure system Sunday into Monday. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An active upper level wave pattern is changing rather frequently through the middle of next week. A cold front that passed through Montana last night is keeping gusty northwest winds around through this evening before decreasing below Lake Wind Advisory criteria tonight. Sunday night into Monday, a fast moving low pressure system skirting northeast Montana is looking to increase winds again. Strongest winds on Monday will be along the North Dakota border, and peak in the early afternoon Through the end of the next week, high pressure over the intermountain west looks to bring warmer and drier weather. An upper level ridge is expected to bring above average temperatures beginning on Thursday. Northeast Montana may see temperatures above 70. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Blended day 1-3 winds with a blend of HiRes models and NBM90. Biggest change was to day 2 night and day 3 day winds. No deviations from NBM otherwise. Confidence remains high in gusting winds above 30 mph this afternoon with a quick lowering of speeds after sunset. Lowered confidence in rain hitting within the CWA tonight. Moderate confidence in stronger winds Sunday night into Monday afternoon. With the active wave pattern we`re currently seeing, changes to the forecast have been steep over the last 2 to 3 days with subsequent model runs. Currently there is a non zero chance for wind gusts of 50 mph over parts of eastern Montana, with highest likelihood (20-30%) in Sheridan county only. && .AVIATION...
