.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:

- The Lake Wind Advisory has been extended through 6 PM today.

- A frontal passage on Sunday with a brief opportunity for
  scattered rain Sunday night.

- Gusty to strong winds following a low pressure system Sunday
  into Monday.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

An active upper level wave pattern is changing rather frequently
through the middle of next week. A cold front that passed through
Montana last night is keeping gusty northwest winds around
through this evening before decreasing below Lake Wind Advisory
criteria tonight. Sunday night into Monday, a fast moving low
pressure system skirting northeast Montana is looking to increase
winds again. Strongest winds on Monday will be along the North
Dakota border, and peak in the early afternoon

Through the end of the next week, high pressure over the
intermountain west looks to bring warmer and drier weather. An upper
level ridge is expected to bring above average temperatures
beginning on Thursday. Northeast Montana may see temperatures
above 70.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Blended day 1-3 winds with a blend of HiRes models and NBM90.
Biggest change was to day 2 night and day 3 day winds. No
deviations from NBM otherwise.

Confidence remains high in gusting winds above 30 mph this
afternoon with a quick lowering of speeds after sunset. Lowered
confidence in rain hitting within the CWA tonight. Moderate
confidence in stronger winds Sunday night into Monday afternoon.

With the active wave pattern we`re currently seeing, changes to
the forecast have been steep over the last 2 to 3 days with
subsequent model runs. Currently there is a non zero chance for
wind gusts of 50 mph over parts of eastern Montana, with highest
likelihood (20-30%) in Sheridan county only.
