Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Glasgow MT

.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Monsoonal moisture will continue slowly moving through NE
Montana the next couple days, with isolated showers and
  thunderstorms expected.

- Warm, summer like temperatures will prevail this weekend before
a cold front swings through on Tuesday.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Weak southerly flow aloft has allowed monsoonal moisture to drift
northward into the area. There is high (70 percent) confidence of
Phillips, Petroleum, and Garfield counties reaching one tenth of
an inch of rain from now through Saturday afternoon with this
moisture. Very little moisture accumulation is expected elsewhere.
Beside a few afternoon isolated thunderstorms in eastern Montana,
this moisture is expected to move into North Dakota on Sunday. A
brief warm up with above average temperatures Sunday and Monday
will give way to a cold front on Tuesday. There is low to moderate
confidence of showers and thunderstorms occurring on Tuesday
afternoon. There is high confidence that temperatures will dip
below average by Wednesday.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Mixed base NBM winds with NBM 90 in Days 1 and 2 of the forecast.
Increased PoPs for Sunday and Tuesday.

There is high confidence that Petroleum, Garfield and Phillips
Counties will have precipitation today and tonight. There is
moderate confidence of Prairie, McCone, and Dawson counties seeing
precipitation, with very little accumulation expected. Confidence
in precipitation is low elsewhere. There is high confidence in
forecast temperatures over the next 4 days and a cold front moving
through on Tuesday.
