.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

1) Warm and dry weather will prevail today and Thursday with only
isolated thunderstorms expected at times.

2) More widespread thunderstorm chances are expected Friday into
the weekend with a low pressure system moving through the Pacific
Northwest, leaving NE Montana under south/southwest flow aloft.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Upper ridging will guide warm and dry conditions across the region
through Thursday, with highs in the 80s to near 90. By Friday, the
next low pressure system will move onshore across the Pacific
Northwest. The SPC has much of the region under a Marginal risk
for severe thunderstorms.

This weekend, the influence of this upper trough will keep
thunderstorm chances across the region in place. Wetting rains are
certainly possible, especially with steadier storms.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

NBM was used for most of this forecast period capturing warm and
dry weather over the next couple of days and more unsettled
weather by the weekend. Confidence is high on the warm
temperatures, but more moderate on placement of thunderstorms and
exact precipitation totals.
