.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:
- Above average temperatures and dry conditions continue through
  Saturday.

- Chances for rain push into northeast Montana Saturday night,
with Northeast Montana`s preliminary weekend totals between
  0.25" and 1".

- Colder temperatures next week may lead to some snowfall over
  higher terrain areas.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Upper ridge over the region will slowly slide east over the next
few days as upper low moves into the Pacific Northwest. With high
pressure over the Dakotas, southeast winds will increase today so
have issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Fort Peck Lake. Unseasonably
warm temperatures will peak on Saturday before the ridge exits
eastward.

Saturday night into Sunday a Pacific Northwest trough
will deepen with southwest flow bringing moisture from TS
Priscilla into the region. A cold front will move across the state
ahead of the trough, with a significant drop in temperatures. The
cold air advection and tightening pressure gradient behind the
front will lead to strong winds on Sunday.

Cold air instability and the tropical moisture will lead to
widespread rain moving in from the southwest on Saturday
afternoon, peaking on Sunday morning. The falling temperatures
will result in some of the rain changing over the snow.
Accumulations are possible, mainly over high terrain areas, but
the falling temperatures (but barely reaching freezing on Sunday
morning) along with warm ground will likely limit amounts to an
inch or less.

Broad upper trough remains over central Canada through next week
keeping temperatures cool with some potential for rainfall.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Blended NBM and NBM90 for winds today and Sunday to account for
marginal Lake Wind Advisory today, and likely Lake Wind on Sunday.
