...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...West Central Greeley County in central Nebraska...
Southeastern Valley County in central Nebraska...
* WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of area creeks, streams, and other low-lying and
flood-prone locations continues, particularly along the Mira Creek
in and near North Loup. Although excess water continues to
gradually recede, it could take several more hours for the Mira
Creek to drop back below its minor flood stage.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 500 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that as much as 3 to 5.5 inches of rain fell Monday night into
early Tuesday morning, causing mainly minor flooding issues in
various locations, including water possibly still covering some
rural gravel or dirt roads. Fortunately, no additional rain is
expected until early Wednesday morning, but there is small chance
for amounts of at least 1 inch.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Mira Creek, North Branch Mira Creek, South Branch Mira Creek.
- Some locations that could experience flooding include...
North Loup.
- As of 445 PM CDT, an automated gauge along the Mira Creek near
North Loup reported a stage of 9.59 feet, slightly above the
minor flood stage of 9 feet. However, the creek appears to be
cresting and starting to very slowly fall. At a stage of 9 feet,
minor flooding occurs, with water spilling into fields and
low-lying areas.
