This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and
portions of north central Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

- Severe Thunderstorm Potential:
At least spotty thunderstorm activity will remain possible almost
anywhere in our forecast area today into tonight. While most of
this activity through most of the day should predominantly be on
the weaker side, there is the potential for parts of our area to
experience a round of strong to severe storms, particularly
between 5 PM and Midnight. The exact timing and evolution of
potential severe storms is still somewhat uncertain, but the most
likely scenario involves one or more lines or clusters of storms
moving across parts of our area from west to east. The overall-
lowest threat for severe storms will focus near and north of
Interstate 80, where a Marginal Risk currently resides, while a
somewhat greater threat will reside within our far southern
Nebraska and north central Kansas counties, where a Slight to
Enhanced Risk is currently assigned. The primary threats with any
severe storms will be wind gusts up to 60 to 70 MPH, hail up to
around ping pong ball size, and perhaps a brief tornado. Some
places could also pick up 1 to 2 inches of rain in a fairly short
time, possibly causing mainly minor/short-term flooding
issues...especially if additional heavy rain falls over those places
that already received 2 to 4 inches of rain over the last 24
hours.

Though some thunderstorm activity could linger beyond midnight,
this activity is not currently expected to be severe.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

- Heat Concerns Mainly Friday Through Sunday:
Each afternoon and early evening from Friday through Sunday, heat
index readings are forecast to reach at least 100 degrees across
various parts of our forecast area, with especially Friday and
Saturday perhaps seeing limited areas reach at least 105 degrees.
Given that this will be our first round of truly hot weather this
year, heat-related precautions may need to be taken.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters are encouraged to report any thunderstorm-related severe
weather or damage that might occur this afternoon into this
evening, including wind gusts around 60 MPH or higher, hail 1
inch diameter or larger, and impactful flooding.
