.DISCUSSION...
Minimum RH values look to remain above 20% through Thursday,
minimizing critical fire weather concerns. However, most of the area
has GFDI values in the 40s today as temperatures warm into the upper
90s and low 100s with winds from the southwest gusting up around
25-40 MPH; worst conditions will be in northwestern Kansas. Nuisance
blowing dust is possible from the stronger gusts. Storms are
forecast to occur this afternoon and overnight. Winds up to 65 MPH,
blowing dust, and dry lightning are the main hazards for these
storms. Storms are favored to be near the CO/NE/KS border.
Temperatures in the 80s and 90s persist through the week, as do near
daily chances of storms. Friday may be a day of concern as Yuma
county (CO 252) may see RH values in the mid to low teens with winds
starting from the southwest then shifting to come from the northwest
gusting up around 20-25 MPH. Low risk as of now, but it`s as close as
we`re getting to critical fire weather conditions.
