.DISCUSSION...
Little concern for critical fire weather Sunday and Monday, but
there is big concern for Eastern Colorado Tuesday.
Today and Monday are forecast to be warm, but with relative humidity
generally above 15% and winds from the south at 10-20 gust 30-35.
This may allow critical conditions to briefly be reached, but
sustained conditions are not expected. Especially Monday with winds
likely a little weaker. Be alert for showers and storms, especially
on Monday. Storms may be severe if they form and could produce wind
gusts above 65 mph and very large hail.
Tuesday, a large system is forecast to move through the Plains and
bring winds to out of the southwest while increasing them to 20-30
gust 50 mph. The stronger winds will favor counties along the
Colorado border. With temperatures warming into the 100s and drier
air moving in, critical fire weather conditions are forecast. GFDI
values could reach extreme levels, especially in Eastern Colorado.
There is still some question on if the winds will get that strong as
the system may shift, but Tuesday may be a bad day for fires.
